The project

The project was born from the encounter of ISF charter members and Dr. Mario Marsiaj, an italian doctor from Veneto . It is in a continuous development for both the installation of software in new rural hospitals and  the new implementation and changes to existing features

Its principal features are:

• the guarantee to have always an usable application - also with minimum requirements;
• the guarantee to have a freely provided application;
• the adaptability to needs of the community;
• simple and explicative interfaces;
  
• the entirety of the stored information.

OpenHospital is an Open Source application and this feature led it to be used by seventeen heath structures in eight sub-Saharan African countries, in Greece and in Afghanistan. In 2006 there was the first installation in Uganda, in St.Luke di Angal.
